Splash Rules
1. Always install a Sure Guard Pool Safety Fence.
2. Never assume someone is watching your children at swimming pool events. Make sure you designate someone to keep watch. Often adults are distracted by conversation or telephone calls. Check children frequently, regardless of age, to make sure all is well.
3. Make sure someone in the family knows C.P.R., especially when hosting a pool party involving children.
4. Should the weather turn bad, stop all pool activities and get everyone inside. Rain, wind, and especially lightning are dangerous swim conditions.
5. Infants should be taught pool survival techniques as early as possible.
6. Never leave large objects in the pool or close to the edge of your pool. They can obstruct your view and cause children to trip and fall on hard surfaces.
7. Diving, running or rough play should not be allowed in or near a pool. Too many issues arise as a result of these activities.
8. If for any reason you do not have a good line of sight on the pool area from inside your home, electronic monitoring systems are inexpensive and can be installed by homeowners. Also, webcams can be installed to view the pool remotely from any device that can access the internet, i.e. a Smart Phone.
9. Make sure there are no electrical devices, electrical cords, and your pool vacuum is not running while children are using your pool.
10. Always have adequate lighting in and around the pool for evening activities.
11. Never allow pool use when you are not home. Should you employ someone to watch your children when you are out of the home, make sure they can swim. Remember to write down all necessary safety numbers including your cell phone in case of emergency.
12. Never store any type of harmful liquids, especially chlorine or water treatments, without being under lock and key.
13. Never allow a child to swim by him/herself.
14. Children watching children is unacceptable.
15. Small children should wear flotation vests regardless of their age.
16. Keep all patio furniture and climbable items a minimum of 5′ from the pool fence.
